Rideau Canal Crossing

General Info

About the Project

Project Description

The new pedestrian and cycle crossing links two midtown Ottawa communities, a striking 123-metre arched span supported on ‘V’ columns on two new piers in the canal. Respectful of the site’s heritage landscape, the lighting design uses subdued and concealed continuous light sources to softly illuminate the crossing. Luminaries are integrated into handrail posts and along the deck edge to suit the project’s pedestrian-friendly agenda.
