Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Toronto International Airport

General Info

About the Project

Project Description

The Sheraton Gateway Hotel located in Terminal 3 of Canada’s busiest airport recently underwent a renovation 30-years in the making. The remodel was driven by the hotel’s branding and included the completion of the entire Public Spaces, the Reception, Lobby Lounge, Coffee Bar / Bar, Restaurant, Studios, Club Lounge and the Multi-Function Event Spaces. The full Guest Tower was also renovated using a customized Sheraton Standard design package for 6 floors and a total of 482 Guestroom and Suites.

The reimagined lobby lighting sets the tone for a modern, welcoming arrival experience. The design balances warmth and clarity, guiding guests intuitively through the space while reinforcing the hotel’s refreshed architectural identity. Layered lighting strategies combine architectural accents, decorative elements, and carefully controlled ambient light to create visual comfort at all hours. Energy-efficient LED solutions and integrated controls enhance flexibility and sustainability, supporting both day-to-night transitions and varied guest needs. The result is a refined, hospitality-driven environment that elevates the first and last moments of every stay.

Lighting

Lighting was added to further engage all areas, and to attract guests toward these areas. The custom illuminated bookshelf received custom lighting to draw attention to the space. Corridors were redefined, the conference rooms/ballrooms, event spaces and small break out spaces received new ceiling lighting. A small portion of the renovation included a retrofit of existing lighting to make the operations more energy efficient – and to maximize the use and versatility of the spaces.
