The open workstation layout is often synonymous with sterile lighting but this E-commerce company’s key objective was creating an office space that challenged this cliché. Mulvey & Banani lighting was given the task of ensuring all spaces in the office not only were conducive to a variety of tasks but also aligned with the green-minded company’s environmental principles. With a design strategy that included wall mounted lighting, floors lamps and areas with warm down lighting, the new system introduced sparkle, focal flow and contrast to the uniform area lighting. Open ceilings were fitted with 8’ to 12’ angled luminaires that were dropped below the ducts to reduce visual clutter. The “work anywhere” model necessitated the utilization of dimming in all spaces and, in combination with daylighting harvesting, was important in achieving the company’s environmental agenda and translated to overall energy savings. 2700-3000K LIGHTING SOURCES USED THROUGHOUT MODEST LIGHT LEVELS OF 30 FC FEATURED ON TORONTO LIFE’S “10 COOLEST OFFICE SPACES VISITED” 2016
