Project Description
PwC's downtown Toronto office showcases how lighting can redefine the workplace experience. Across 55,000 sq. ft., static white illumination is layered with dynamic colour-changing LEDs and custom fixtures to create an environment that feels both energizing and refined. From floating ceiling effects in reception to softly glowing spherical pendants in communal areas, light shapes mood, supports focus, and allows the office to transition seamlessly from daily tasks to large-scale gatherings and events.
At a larger scale, PwC Canada reimagined its 271,500 sq. ft. Toronto headquarters as a national prototype for the future of work. As the firm’s largest Canadian office, the space was designed to anchor culture while setting a new portfolio-wide standard. Extensive employee engagement revealed a clear priority: choice, flexibility, and environments that balance privacy with collaboration, all supported by seamless technology and universal accessibility.
The design replaces private offices with non-assigned seating and adaptable neighbourhoods that encourage movement and spontaneous interaction. A flexible “kit of parts” ensures consistency across Canada while allowing local expression. Acoustic performance, integrated AV, embedded power, and inclusive features, developed in collaboration with accessibility experts, create a workplace that is intuitive, equitable, and highly functional.
Brand identity is expressed experientially rather than through overt signage. A layered approach of lighting, natural materials, regional tones, and biophilic elements forms a cohesive “Golden Thread” unique to Toronto yet aligned nationally. Hospitality-driven amenities, sustainable reuse strategies, and long-term adaptability position the headquarters as a dynamic, human-centred environment, one that reflects PwC’s values while actively shaping how its people connect, collaborate, and thrive.
