About the Project

Project Description

The lighting design team’s approach was intentional, with a focus on aligning the lighting strategy with the core values of the company. By highlighting collaborative spaces and creating an atmosphere that nurtures staff well-being, the lighting design fosters an environment that promotes both productivity and comfort.

The lighting designers focused on staff wellness this is achieved through a balance of natural and artificial light. To create a sense of openness in the space, partitions were removed allowing more daylight to shine through the windows.

A significant element was to design adequate lighting that provides opportunities for staff to gather and share ideas in various workstations. Optimizing lighting in each workstation, throughout all three levels, connecting communal lounges, flexible workstations, and quiet zones to support diverse work style, was a significant factor in the lighting design team’s vision to create balanced agile workspaces.

The focal point of the office is the bronze staircase leading to the upper levels. Its bold architectural presence is accentuated by subtle, integrated lighting that enhances its sculptural form. Linear fixtures were carefully selected to provide efficient illumination while harmonizing with the overall aesthetic, reinforcing the project’s commitment to sustainability.

The RioCan Office Toronto effectively transformed its previously partitioned office into an open layout, incorporating lighting that increases collaboration and creates an inclusive environment for all staff. Every detail was carefully considered, as the lighting design enhances staff productivity and positively influences their mood. RioCan’s thoughtful approach demonstrates the powerful impact of lighting on the workplace experience.
