St. Luke's United Church Redevelopment (353 Sherbourne Street)

General Info

About the Project

Project Description

St. Luke's United Church, located at the corner of Sherbourne and Carlton streets (353-355 Sherbourne Street) directly across from Allan Gardens, is embarking on a significant redevelopment of its historic property. The project proposes transforming the existing heritage church into a Net-Zero/Carbon Neutral mixed-use development that includes church facilities, community spaces, and residential components.

The redevelopment features the addition of a 13-storey affordable rental housing building comprising approximately 95 to 100 residential units. Alongside housing, the development will offer multi-functional community spaces and complementary service and administrative areas, enhancing the church's role in serving the community.

St. Luke's United Church is partnering with the United Property Resource Corporation (UPRC) for this initiative. They have enlisted KPMB Architects to design the new building, with ERA Architects overseeing the heritage aspects to preserve the church's historical significance. This project is the largest among several properties that UPRC is developing with the mission to repurpose church assets for community benefit while maintaining their heritage value.
